This season is all about being cozy, warm, and festive, and with a little bit of effort, and some faux pumpkins, your home will be Fall-ready in no time.
To help you kick-off your home decorating adventure, our team came up with 5 simple tips to help you elevate your home’s look for the fall season!
Spice Up Your Front Porch
Fall marks the beginning of the holiday season, which means lots of guests, family, and get-togethers! What better way to welcome them into your home than with a festive front porch?
Add some planters or haybales surrounded by an abundance of real or faux pumpkins and gourds. For a nice evening glow, you can also mix in a few lanterns.
Consider purchasing a fall-themed doormat or welcome sign to make your display really pop!
(Safely) Fire Up the Fireplace
If your home has a fireplace, capitalize on it! Fireplaces and their mantels are often the focal point of the living room. Even just turning it on will instantly give your home a warm and cozy feel. (Just make sure to follow all the proper fire precautions!)
If you’d like to take it a step further, decking out your mantel with faux or fresh pumpkins, candles, garland, and vases will quickly transform your space into a fall haven.
Set the Table with Seasonal Style
As we all know, with the onset of the fall season there will likely be a few family dinners down the road. Laying out a warm-toned table runner or linen and adding a festive centerpiece are easy ways to add a bit of autumn décor to your dining area.
Additionally, you can swap out your typical napkins and placemats for seasonal ones to add another layer of color to your table settings.
Warm Things Up Indoors
Even people with minimal knowledge of interior design and color palettes know that warmer tones and fall go together like pumpkin and spice. Plus, contrary to what you may see on Pinterest you really don’t have to make huge changes to give your indoor rooms a cozy vibe.
For example, in your living room or den areas consider switching out your throw blankets for plaid or warmer toned throws. You can add some matching or coordinating couch pillows to maximize the coziness. (As a pro-tip for couch pillows, try choosing one color and experimenting with one or two different patterns to elevate the look!)
In the kitchen you might swap out your normal oven towels for an autumn-themed set, or perhaps add a vase filled with fall blooms such as mums, pansies, celosias, or purple fountain grass.
Spice up your bathrooms by trading in your typical hand towel for a more seasonal one. If you’re as into fall-scented hand soaps as we are, you might also want to pop your favorite one on the sink. Afterall, nothing says fall like the smell of cinnamon and apple!
Cozy Up the Patio
Last but certainly not least, the autumn season is the perfect time of year to enjoy your back yard–the weather is just right and the colorful foliage provides a stunning back drop for those cheerful evening get-togethers.
You can start prepping your deck or patio for fall by adding a fire-pit to gather around. Whether you’d like to construct your own or purchase a fire-pit bowl from your local hardware store, having one not only gives your guests a spot to chat and converse, but also keeps everybody warm on those crisper fall nights (which they will be thanking you for!)
To tie it all together, sprinkle in some more pumpkins and gourds (real or fake) around your outdoor space. It would also be a good idea to place some sleek lanterns or string lights around the area to brighten things up when the sun goes down.
